I just took a crack at developing a plugin widget for WordPress. Its a pretty amazing platform. Getting a basic foundation in place was a breeze. I’ve never felt like such an end user before. I didn’t have to build any low level classes.
Need to save some user options? Call a function. Need to access the database? Use the provided WordPress database object. It even builds your database tables for you and manages updates to the structure from one version to the next. Wow!
I know I’m not an end user programming a plugin, but it sure does feel like it compared to developing a site from scratch. I can only imagine how empowering this is to true end users that don’t know anything about web development. There’s just so much out of the box.
Details for the plugin are on my Social Links Plugin page. Try it out.

got my thumbs up….
Works a treat….
I have major ADHD, so I will try my best to keep this short and understandable. Not the best writer.
I started a social networking site for Dancers. It is a very toxic demographic to have openly cruising places like Myspace.
For Dance Teachers, by trying to use sites like Facebook, they are quickly realizing it it actually causes a conflict of mixing business with Pleasure.
I stared Danceregister.com which is a gated social networking community for the world of Dance. I make no money from the site but I have created a safe place for dancers, a piece of mind for parents, and a professional space for Teachers, studio owners, and services.
So my question. I want to make this widget available to my members. 1,032 and still growing every week with a push coming this summer and again in the fall. How hard, or is it possible, to add Danceregister to the list of communities the widget can access?
I look forward to your reply. Thnak you for your time as I truly respect and appreciate the value.
