Social Links WordPress Plugin
The Social Links WordPress plugin is a sidebar widget that displays icon links to your profile pages on other social networking sites. You can see it in action here on the right hand side of my blog.

Update: I’m currently in the process of updating the plugin for WordPress 2.9. No end date in mind yet, but I’ve got all the functionality already in place. Just cleaning up the UI a bit and refactoring the code.
Upcoming Features:
- Ability to select any icon from an icons folder and enter any title and url to go with it. Manage available networks on your own! . Just upload the icon and its available to select.
- Open in new window(already done)
Known Issues:
- Long links are truncated.

Is there any way to use new tabs or windows? I do not want visitors leaving the site to get to the facebook page… I would rather it opened up in a new tab.

Hi Using the your plugin on my site. Wondering how I can add an additional link to Blipfoto.com. I have an icon. It breaks when I change the php file.
Also the new Post thumbnail feature in WP 2.9.1 doesn’t work when your plugin is activated. I have to deactivate it to work. Any chance of this being updated?

I’m a techno-dud and an absolute beginner, so hopefully there is an easy answer to this. The install seems to have gone ok and I have activated and added gthe widget to the sidebar, which gives me the option for a title, but the title is all that shows after I have edited my social media links in the edit page.
Also – it would be great to have Posterous added to the mix.

Love your plugin, but it apparently causes a conflict with the new 2.9.1 image editor. Any idea what can be done to fix it?

It appears changing the icon size within the widget doesn’t change the icon size, but does change the spacing (i.e. if the width is to high, the icons move to the next line).
Is there a way to change the icon size?

Dug in a bit more, I was under the impression the “width” attribute in the widget would dynamically scale the icon size. It doesn’t appear so – so, I suppose just uploading larger icons to replace yours would solve the issue? Do any changes need to be made to the code?

Glad to see so many people benefiting from this plugin. I’m picking up development on the next version of this again(it’s been a while).
New features.

I’m having issues with having it display vertical only.
I’d like to be able to add a line of text next to the icon, or maybe make the icon bigger (looks like you’re providing that option).
Also, I’m trying to add a facebook page and the link gets cut off. For some reason, it won’t include the entire link. Can I modify that manually anywhere?

How can I make the social icons align to the right instead of the left?
I’d very much like all icons to appear on one line. Is there a means to do that or do so with code?

when i try to delete the icons they wont drag into trash can. I also cant change the previous url info for the icon(twitter)

Hi, your plugin is fantastic! Though it still displays correctly for WordPress 3 on the front-end, I no longer have access to the administrative view for this particular plugin in the back-end. Any chance that we can get a patch so that I can update my Social Links items?

I love the simplicity of your app and think it is fantastic. However I can no longer use it as my facebook url is truncated as it is a long url. Have you been able to fix this bug and when will the new verison will be released.
